The South Carolina State Society, Inc. (SCSS) of Washington, DC is a nonprofit section 501(c)(7) organization affiliated with the National Conference of State Societies. SCSS is made up of over 600 South Carolinians living and working in the Washington, DC area. With a diverse membership base and an active Board of Directors, SCSS is committed to maintaining a link to our home state while here in the Nation's Capital. Our members work in congressional offices, federal agencies, educational institutions, corporate headquarters, trade associations, and the private sector. We also enjoy tremendous support from the South Carolina Congressional Delegation.

The South Carolina State Society sponsors events throughout the year, including our annual Oyster Roast and various social events with other state societies and South Carolina groups. In addition, SCSS participates in the National Cherry Blossom Festival each spring, where we sponsor the South Carolina Cherry Blossom Princess.

The National Conference of State Societies (NCSS) is the nonprofit voluntary umbrella association for state societies in the national capital area. At one time or another, all 50 states have had active societies. NCSS has also recognized societies that have been formed at various times by people from the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The Magnolia Caucus is an informal, non-partisan coalition of Southeastern State Societies based in Washington, DC. The mission of the coalition is to host events, build regional relationships and maintain an open line of communication between each state society.
